I have been involved with some discussions here about the Volvo QL trim tabs and now I am in need of some help. After 3 years of service, it appears that my QL tabs have decided to stop working. I did not hear any noises or grinding of the mechanical gears, but now both tabs will not go up

I did not hear any noises or grinding of the mechanical gears, but now both tabs will not go up However, given the cost of traditional tabs plus switch gear there isn’t a lot of difference once you factor in the auto trim functions of the Zipwakes. Edited to add; on closer inspection one of the plastic gears on the non drowned drive box has stripped slightly, so both interceptors are fubar. I would now fit Bennett trim tabs every time rather than the QL which work well in concept but the engineering is a POS IMHO and experience. If you have the opportunity to send them back and get a refund I would ASAP! I had a boat fitted with QL tabs, transom was re-shaped to make sure it was square with much new fibre glass involved.
